I see a bunch of barely in control or out of control free vehicles that will be scrapped after this shoot. anyone else?

I wanted to see the after of the one that tagged the tree with its ass.

So Land Rover is now making the Raptor Explorer that Ford never built?
![]() 02/17/2020 at 12:07 |

The vehicle around 12 seconds is 100% not going to recover from that. hence the quick cut away.

yup, so long as you don’t need it to last and plan to go downhill only.

I feel like that jump would activate the air bags lol. Obviously they are full caged vehicles as well. Its a cool advertisement for sure but I feel like its probably just a tad too far removed from the factory version for it to “land”. Maybe im wrong though. I hope I am.

“V ehicle shown modified for safety purposes”

It’s as if they looked at Jeep’s comparatively tame off-road ads and went full-Trump.
Never go full-Trump.

They cut to a different take of the big jump. The one on the far right is fine but in the shot of the trucks landing, it looks like it’s got a bag on the window. Makes me think that’s the one that met the tree

Yeah, I see that. Im just curious what that entails. Does it include the suspension components?

I saw the marker at the beginning and figured this was b-roll footage.
But nope!

was thinking the same thing, but its one the wrong side. nevermind, correct side.

Overall, a very strange take on a commercial (I watched without audio so maybe it’s better with?). They just did things. It’s like they’re already practicing how to launch them for a James Bond film. I think they just got absolutely hammered and wrote this concept (as an excuse to really send off the preproduction cars)

I see a bad ass advertisement. No vehicles
used in commercials or movies are just put back out on the lot good as new.

They conveniently don’t show the repair bills after damaging a single sensor costs more than swapping an engine in the previous gen

sure, but you can run any vehicle this hard once. Im not sure it says anything about the vehicle other than it will be in a James Bond film, which...k.

We’ll see if all the promises hold true once these things get out in the world for real. On paper, they’re super promising.

How many more copies of that vehicle do you not see, that are already scrapped?
So wasteful. That’s my complaint with Roadkill: that sometimes, they simply squander a bunch of expensive parts. (My other complaint is how they never tell us what anything costs. Our pals at GearStar sent us over this ($7,000) transmission... )

Is the roof damaged in this one? Same specimen, perhaps?

Wait, was that a hydraulic handbrake handle at 0:23?
![]() 02/18/2020 at 07:28 |
|
Nope, the stunt coordinator stated they have a roll cage for the driver which is a legal thing and a hydraulic handbrake because handbrake turns, but apart from that they are stock.

I see a fun advert that takes advantage of the bond franchises innate cool factor and a entertaining voice over. Basically Land Rover adverts should have their cars doing shit like this and climbing up dams, not on the road and being used like regular cars, because Land Rover should be playing the adventure card hard.
